Our honeymood was incredible!! We spent 7 blissful days in the beautiful Mexican Riviera on Carnival Cruise Lines. We had a very late start on Sunday morning leaving Fresno, and fortunately, we were able to make it to Los Angeles in about 3 hours! For some reason there wasn't much traffic, so we whizzed over there as fast as we could to hop on the ship before it left the port.
When we walked on board, we were absolutely amazed at how ornate and elegant the ship was. We were literally pampered our whole trip! We had an amazing room with a balcony. The food was fantastic and the whole experience was fabulous! Kyle chowed down on ice cream about five times a day, while Melanie ate loads of fresh pineapple.
On ship there were numberless activities to engage in. Kyle and Melanie took up a round of golf on the Sports Deck while over looking the sea. There was also a basketball court, ping-pong tournaments, a movie theatre, games, a kaoreoke club, a dance club, a spa, places to sun bathe, a huge all-you-can-eat buffet and sooo much more. We spent a lot of our time soaking in the jacuzzi's and relaxing.
Our first port was Puerto Vallarta. Once we stepped out onto our balcony in the morning, we immediately noticed the humidity of Mexico. Kyle was almost talked into buying a Nacho Libre mask when we boarded off the ship, but he settled for a t-shirt instead. Our excursion for the day was Zip Lining in the jungle. Melanie was a little apprehensive at first, but after the first zip line, she was ready for more. It was a fun activity and a long and tiring hike back to the bus.
Our second port was in Mazatlan. The scenery on the coast was absolutely beautiful. There were many old structures and cathedrals. While there, we went on a 4x4 tour in on an island. We drove through the jungle and on the shores of the beach. Melanie is naturally a slow driver, so she tried not to be so cautious as normal so she wouldn't be in the back of the pack. At the end of our tour, we were covered in dust and sand. Kyle dipped into the ocean to clean off a bit before heading back to the ship.
Our final destination was in gorgeous Cabo San Lucas. Trust us, the rumors are true about how clear and clean the water is there! Our excursion was a clear-bottom kayaking and snorkeling activity. The bottom of the kayaks had clear fiber-glass that allowed us to see the marine life right underneath us as we paddled in the water. We made our way to the cove where the sea lions would come near the kayaks to eat the fish that the tour guide would toss out to them. It was amazing! After, we got on our snorkeling gear and jumped into the water to get a closer look at the marine life. There was a warning of jellyfish in the water, so Melanie clung on to Kyle for dear life. While swimming, we came across a sunken ship and even got to see and touch a blow-up/puffer fish.
We highly recommend a cruise to anybody. We have no complaints whatsoever. Actually, we're hoping to go cruisin' again soon! We unfortunately had to face reality and step off the ship as we returned to the United States, but our honeymoon was unlike anything we've ever done and it's a moment that will always be memorable!
